I'm making a choli top – like the one in my avatar pic here.
I found that I have some tassel fringe in the right color, and I'm thinking I want to put it on my top. (I wish I had a picture, but I don't have a good camera in order to take a picture of it.) It's… oh what's the word… like what you'd use on a pillow or curtains, or my husband said "lampshade." Not housewares, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. There's a 1" wide matching, decorative band the tassels are attached to – or hang from.
I'm not asking for mechanics about lining the fabric or anything like that.
I'm asking… how can I attach this stuff to a top so that it doesn't look stupid? Not tacky, not overdone, not simply tacked on any old place.
And I'm pretty sure I don't just want to hang a tassel off each boob, :P
Can I "scallop" this from armpit to center to armpit? So it looks kind of "draped" in place? What constitutes "too low" on the boobs and what's "too high"?
I've already experimented a little, and I know that down the neckline isn't what I want. The tassels just end up stacking on top of one another, and don't really have much movement beyond that. I do want some movement from these.
(Oh yeah… and I have giant boobs…so I'm hoping the movement of the tassels will convince me to make my body's movements a little smaller and more sensible.)
Thanks!

Re: embellishment help
09/04Is there a reason why you don't just put it straight across the bottom edge? -

Re: embellishment help
09/04I think I want it up higher… so it will respond to chest pops and whatnot.
Then again, if I'd ever embellished a top before I would know more about whether that's crazy talk or not. -

Re: embellishment help
09/14Well, it doesn't matter now. Things are progressing in a completely different direction at the moment.
Tassels now being used as a belt. The top will just have to cover me and look pretty. -

Re: embellishment help
09/14I use safety pins to temporarily tack on something (if it can be) to see how it looks/works.
